What is the Chevening Scholarship?
Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s international scholarship programme for emerging leaders. The programme enables outstanding individuals from eligible countries and territories to study a one-year master’s degree at a UK university.
Successful scholars become part of a global network of Chevening alumni and have opportunities to build professional connections with other scholars, alumni, organisations and leaders.
What Does the Chevening Scholarship Cover?
A Chevening Award provides financial support for eligible scholars during their studies in the UK.
Main benefits include:
- Tuition fee payment
- Economy return travel to and from the scholar’s country of residence by an approved route
- Arrival allowance
- Monthly stipend to help cover living expenses
- Support and opportunities through the Chevening engagement programme
- Access to a global network of Chevening scholars and alumni
The exact value and conditions of an award can vary in certain circumstances, so applicants should always check the official Chevening terms and conditions.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants should check the official Chevening eligibility requirements before applying.
Key requirements include:
- Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- Have an undergraduate degree that enables entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university.
- Have at least 2,800 hours of work experience acquired after completing an undergraduate degree.
